Insatiably Curious

Curiosity is one of the permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous mind. – Samuel Johnson

I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity. – Eleanor Roosevelt

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. – Albert Einstein

Insatiable curiosity is a core part of my personality. How do they build that? How does that work? What’s around the next bend? What do you think about this or that? How did life begin? Are we alone in the universe? What was the world like 10,000 years ago? Etc. Etc. Etc.

I like to think of this as a core strength. I enjoy using my mind in different ways. I like to experience different things. I like to know everything. Well, maybe not everything but as much as I can in the time I have here. I find the world incredibly interesting and believe there are fascinating people around every corner.

Sometimes I drive Erica crazy with all my questions. When I started a new job in 1992, I asked so many questions, that the team of people at work gave me the nickname of “Question Mark”. I took it as a compliment. 🙂

I’m always striving to learn something new every day, however small. I generally have a couple of books that I’m reading at any given time. If I’m not learning, I don’t feel right. Something just feels off. Thank goodness I’m hardly ever in that situation.

Bottom line: I feel that being curious or cultivating a curious nature can help keep your mind young, your life interesting and turn probabilities into possibilities.

Have a great day!

Michael
