Every adult needs a child to teach; it’s the way adults learn. – Frank A. Clark
Many adults tend to become “closed” as they get older. They know how things are and get set in their ways. Instead of using their experience to gain insights and new perspectives, many live in a world of limited possibilities and choice.
Most children, on the other hand, are continually absorbing the world around them. They are superb at living in the moment, extracting as much fun as possible out of any situation and are like sponges when it comes to learning new things.
What’s great when adults teach children is that they must learn to look at the world through a child’s eye or they won’t be effective teachers. This is great for adults because it can open them back up to experience the world in a more relaxed way. Adults can learn to have real fun again and be more focused in the present instead of worrying about past mistakes or future calamities.
Adults can be very uptight, reserved and stuffy at times. Just watch the movie Big to see the huge difference between adults and children. You see what happens when Josh starts acting like an adult. It’s an eye opener.
Take a lesson from children. Play more. Think less. Release tension. Have more fun. Things are not that serious. Really, they aren’t.
See the world through the eyes of a child. It could possible change your life.
