Open your eyes to the beauty around you,
Open your mind to the wonders of life,
Open you heart to those who love you,
and always be true to yourself. – Donna Davis
Being open can be quite challenging for the majority of us. We tend to get attached to ideas, habits, policies, religions, politics, food, exercise, cultures and etc. The trouble happens we when begin to belief and act as if our particular attachments are the only way to think or act. With six billion people on the planet that kind of thinking is bound to bring challenges and struggle.
There is another way. We can be more tolerant, more compassionate, more forgiving of differences and more willing to learn new things. We can be willing to debate without taking it personally. Simply stated, we can be more open.
This simple decision of being more open can change the world. It all starts with each of us. First, we should learn to be more open with ourselves. Following the words of advice of Donna Davis is a great start. Tolerating our shortcomings or what we belief to be our shortcomings is a huge step towards accepting ourselves. Openness can soon follow.
Secondly, as we practice openness internally, we will find it easier to practice openness externally. Your perspective will change and you will find that your openness will have a huge influence on those around you.
Have a great day!
